Character Creation and Consistency (2)

Two more methods to create consistency of character.

If you needed a specific looking Cyborg wearing a doctor’s robe, another method apart from the character reference image method is to do some image preparation. You can merge say a cyborg head onto a doctor’s robe before hand in paint or photoshop very easily. Then copy that image, drag it into Midjourney and create a prompt referencing that image to create a character. Here’s an example of that process:

1. I needed an image of my Cyborg with a red face shield getting a prize at an award ceremony. So I looked up google and got the below image.

2. You can see the character on the right has a very crude and raw cyborg head cut and put on top of it, I just did that on PowerPoint, then saved image.

3. Then I dragged the image above into Midjourney and regenerated the image using the above as a reference image together with: /imagine (image reference prompt above), Cyborg doctor with red face shield winning an award on stage by X artist –ar 16:9 –v 5

Here’s another example:

1. I needed a side view of my hero red face shield doctor. So I used the Google Reference Image Below:

2. I then crudely superimposed my hero’s head on top with power point and used the below as reference image:

3. Lastly using the above as reference image I produced the final result with: /imagine (reference image prompt above), side view full body character reference sheet of Cyborg doctor with red face shield in a white robe in the style of (Artist ABC) --ar 9:16 –v 5

Midjourney also has a command called /blend, whereby you can blend images together. You will need to trial and error because sometimes it blends the red hair from the left image with the face of the right image whereas you wanted the hair of the right image with the face of the left image. I find that it really is a 50/50 blend of two images, so I get better results with the above method above rather than the command blend.

Lastly another way to achieve character consistency is to use InsightFace Bot. This new bot is really useful to keep the face consistent for characters:

1. Press the add button on discord to create a new bot.

2. Then click on the Midjourney bot and right click to add Midjourney bot to the new bot.

3. Once done click on the new bot, paste the link to InsightFace Bot I have provided here, click on the link and install the App. With this, you have a great character face consistency tool.

4. The command that you will be using will be called: /saveid

5. Once you type in that command, a box will load up and you can drag and drop your reference face inside this box.

6. Name the ID.

7. After that for whatever image generated with Midjourney, after its been generated and rendered upscale, right click, then click Apps, then click INSwapper, then choose the ID of the face you want to swap and Voila, you have character consistency.
